Judy Watson Napangardi was born around 1935 at Yarungkanji, Mt. Doreen Station, where people led a traditional nomadic life then.
As an Australian Aboriginal painter, Judy was an important figure to the contemporary indigenous Australian art circle. Taught by her sister Maggie Watson, she eventually developed her unique style of ‘dragged dotted’ paintings in bright contrasting colours and detailed compositions.
Missed by many since her passing in May 2016, Judy’s works are still widely appreciated and collected by galleries and museums across Australia.
