Fanny Brodar

Fanny studied illustration and has a BFA from The Art Institute of Boston. At art school she developed her signature handwritten style that has trickled into her work today. Influenced by the playful curiosity of childhood and the simplistic yet expressive characters of artists like Philip Guston, many of Fanny’s works are unusual and figurative. Often she leave areas unpainted, exposes pencil marks, and lets paint drip so the viewer can see hints of her process. Her favorite color is fluorescent pink, and she loves cowgirls. Fanny was born in Norway, grew up in New York, and currently lives and works in Maine.
